Q: What is Day Camp? A: Girl Scout Day Camp provides a safe environment where Girl Scouts can explore the great outdoors, make new friends, feel a sense of independence, try new things, and come home to sleep each night. Girl Scouts are placed in small units with approximately 8-12 other Girl Scouts their age. Q: What activities will be offered this year? A: Activities at Camp include traditional Camp activities such as crafts, snacks, nature exploration, singing, games and team building. The program will be centered around our Camp Theme. We will wrap up our three days at camp with an afternoon of water fun. Q: Is lunch provided all three days of camp? A: No. We will NOT be providing lunch this year. However, we will provide 2 snacks each day at camp. We will be providing lunch at camp ONE day (watch your registration letter for details). Q: Who can go to Day Camp? A: Girl Scouts currently in kindergarten to 4th grade are Campers. Girl Scouts currently in 5th and 6th grade are Junior Caddies. They work on and develop leadership skills. Girl Scouts currently in 7th & 8th grade are Unit Caddies. They lead campers around to our various activities while singing and playing games all day. Girl Scouts currently in 9th-12th grade are Program Caddies. They prep and plan activities to deliver each day at camp to our younger campers. All of these activities are based on our camp theme. Those who are not currently Girl Scouts must register to become a member at the same time they register for Day Camp ($25). Day Camp is open to all regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, ability, or socioeconomic status. Q: When and Where is Day Camp? A: Dates: Monday, July 22nd - Wednesday, July 24th, 2024 Time: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Place: Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park, 9750 Egret Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433 Q: Is there an Overnight? A: No, as we rebuild our programming after Covid we have decided not to offer an overnight at this time. Q: How much does Day Camp cost? A: Camp Fee for Girl Scouts in kindergarten to 6th grade is $120. Girl Scouts in 7th to 12th grade are Caddies, cost is $75. Each full-time (all three days) volunteer will receive a FREE camper or caddie. Please DO NOT let the cost of Camp deter your Girl Scout from attending! Financial Aid for Girl Scouts is available. Please contact us for additional details or the link on this site. Q: Can I use Electronic Program Credit? A: Yes! Please enter the code(s) on your registration form. Q: Can I come to Camp with a friend? A: Yes! Two friends may register together as "buddies" and be placed in a unit together. One pair only please! We make EVERY effort to make this work, we cannot accommodate whole troops as we want girls to meet new friends. They will have times to see each other during the day at camp. Q: What if my friend isn't a Girl Scout? A: That's okay! For $25, they can register as a Girl Scout and attend Day Camp too! Q: How do I sign up? A: Registration begins in March and remains open until Camp is full or June 1st. Q: How do I volunteer? A: We are always in need of adult volunteers! Volunteer for all three days and receive a camper or caddie for FREE. Volunteers will be responsible for paying their parking fee for camp. Safety is a part of caddie & volunteer training and Camper orientation. We will follow guidelines provided by River Valleys and GSUSA as well as state and local health care codes. Our Health Care Manager is on-site at all times. Q: Will I get more Information about Day Camp before it starts? A: Yes! Approximately two weeks before Day Camp you will receive an email with a Confirmation Letter with all pertinent information needed. Q: What if I have to cancel? A: Cancellations must be submitted in writing as soon as possible. No refunds will be issued after June 1st. Q: What is a Junior Caddie or Caddie? A: Junior Caddies are Girl Scouts in 5th and 6th grade. They learn how to work with younger girls, and they plan the program for Wednesday morning. They participate in Camp program activities. Unit Caddies are Girl Scouts in 7th and 8th grade. Unit Caddies are responsible for a group of campers (8-12) with adults to help if needed. Unit Caddies guide Girl Scouts to stations and provide a fun environment. Program Caddies are Girl Scouts entering 9th through 12th grade. Program Caddies prepare and lead stations that the campers will attend. Caddies assist at Camp in a variety of ways depending on age, training and previous leadership experience. Q: How do I become a Caddie? A: Any registered Girl Scout in grades 7-12 can be a Caddie. Simply fill out the Registration Form. Please make sure that you can attend our MANDATORYtraining!
